GRIP-FLEX
Grip-Flex is an extremely heavy-duty coating that protects the integrity of asphalt and concrete pavements that are subjected to heavy traffic. This makes it ideal for parking lots, roads, and airport runways. Grip-Flex is a specially formulated thermoplastic coal tar resin binder blended with specially graded aggregates, to form a fuel-resistant and super skid-resistant surface. Grip-Flex has amazing elasticity which keeps it from cracking as a result of weathering, expansion and contraction of the underlying pavement. Grip-Flex retains its beautiful black color throughout its lifetime so the pavement is not only protected but it looks great.
The Process:
- Grip-Flex can only be applied by fully-trained authorized, applicators. Pavement Network professionals are trained in this process.
- The weather needs to be warm and dry.
- The temperature should be 50° and rising with no rain in the forecast.
- Nighttime temperatures should not be below 32° F.
- The asphalt surface must be cleaned with a combination of power brooms, power air blowers, and hand tools.
- All dirt and debris must be removed from the asphalt surface.
- Fresh oil spots should be treated with a primer to ensure sealer adhesion.
- Large cracks should be filled with a rubberized crack sealant.
- The Grip-Flex is then applied using a specially designed applicator truck that mixes the material on the fly.
- The Grip-Flex truck has a squeegee and broom finishing assembly that gives the coating its texture.
- Edges are finished using hand tools.
- Pavement markings can be applied as soon as the coating is dry using a heavy- duty traffic paint.
- Traffic can be introduced to the lot in 12 - 24 hours based on climate conditions.
